Qatar Golf National Team finished second in the GCC Golf Championship, 17th edition held in Oman
GCC Golf championship is an annual competition run by the Golf Organising Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which sees golfers from the GCC states – Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait and Oman – battle it out to be crowned GCC champion. This year, the Championship was organised in cooperation with the Oman Golf Committee and held at Almouj Golf.
Qatar Golf National Team finished second in the GCC Golf Championship, 17th edition held in Oman, 23-26 OF FEBRUARY 2013. Qatar’s Ali Al-Beishi won the gold medal in the Men’s Individuals event.The three-day tournament concluded with Qatar’s Ali Al Bishi clinching the gold, with an individual gross of 211. Bahrain claimed the title of the team championship while United Arab Emirates finished third.
Ali Al Bishi was equally emphatic about his win, ‘The first day I went out and carded a 70 which I was very happy about and really gave me inspiration for the following rounds. I am very proud to have won the individual competition but as a team we were really hoping to beat Bahrain and take the group trophy back to Qatar with us. We’ll be back next year stronger and more experienced and we will give it our best. In the meantime I look forward to playing Almouj Golf again, it is a great course and offered many challenges over the competition.’
In Men’s Individuals event, Hamad Mubarak and Nasser Yaqouf of Bahrain occupied the second and third place respectively.
